Visitors To Canada Insurance

Explore Canada with Confidence with Visitors to Canada Insurance

Visitors to Canada insurance is indispensable coverage for anyone planning to visit Canada, either for business or pleasure. This policy is designed to cover emergency medical expenses such as hospitalization, ambulance services, and treatments in the event of an injury or illness during the visit. This is particularly important since visitors to Canada are responsible for their own medical costs.

Who is Eligible for Visitors to Canada Insurance?

This insurance is suitable for various categories of visitors:

  • Tourists visiting Canada
  • Super Visa applicants
  • Landed immigrants and returning Canadians waiting for Government Health Insurance
  • Temporary workers
  • International students

However, it’s important to note that residents of Canada covered by a government health insurance plan (GHIP) are not eligible for Visitors to Canada Insurance.

What Visitors to Canada Insurance Covers

This insurance offers coverage for emergency medical treatment and over 150 adventure activities, making it perfect for those planning to partake in outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, playing sports, hiking, or camping. It also provides coverage for those waiting for government health benefits to kick in.

What Visitors to Canada Insurance Does Not Cover

Visitors to Canada insurance is an emergency-only coverage. It does not cover non-emergency expenses such as regular doctor appointments, refilling prescriptions, or checking pre-existing medical conditions.

When and How to Purchase Visitors to Canada Insurance

Ideally, visitors should purchase travel insurance as soon as their travel plans are confirmed. This insurance must be purchased prior to or within seven days of arrival in Canada. After this period, coverage is not offered. At Medi-Quote Insurance Brokers, we make the process easy. Simply give us a call or request a quote through our client portal to compare prices and coverage from top Visitors to Canada insurance providers.

Super Visa Applicant Insurance Requirements

If you are applying for a super visa through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), you will have to get travel health insurance that meets the following requirements:

  • The plan covers health care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • The maximum payout must be at least $100,000.
  • The coverage must be continuous for 365 days, even if the applicant chooses to come and go from Canada.
  • There is no minimum deductible required. A deductible is what the applicant has to pay if they make a claim. Plans include deductible options, but we recommend $0.00 for the best protection.
  • Refunds are available if the applicant is denied entry into Canada or they choose to leave before one year.
  • Must include confirmation of insurance documentation for review by a port-of-entry officer.

We understand the IRCC requirements and know which plans meet them. We also take the time to learn about your specific health needs to make sure you’re covered if you need medical care.
